Scaffolding collapses outside South African Linkin Park show

JOHANNESBURG -

Linkin Park are giving heartfelt condolences to the family of a fan who died after scaffolding holding up a temporary advertising structure collapsed in high winds outside their show in Cape Town, South Africa, yesterday.

The band say on their website the fan died as a result of her injuries from the collapse outside the Green Point Stadium. Nineteen other people were hurt.

Cape Town spokeswoman Kylie Hatton says engineers had given the OK to the structure. All the branding was taken down and the site was declared safe shortly afterward.

Linkin Park continued with the show.
