Indiana Tech law school admits first student

Posted: Updated:
FORT WAYNE -

Indiana Tech's law school has admitted its first student nine months before its scheduled opening.

Purdue University senior Megan Marks is the first student admitted to the private university's law school, which will become Indiana's fifth.

The 21-year-old psychology major is a Fort Wayne native. She tells the Journal Gazette that she's looking forward to studying law in the city where she grew up.

Law School Dean Peter Alexander says several people expressed interest in an early admissions program, so the school has offered a streamlined process to meet the need. Through the early admissions program, applicants can secure a seat months before regular applicants. They must agree not to submit an application to another law school.

Indiana Tech is seeking to admit 100 students in its first class.
