If your baby is around a lot of stress, their brain function could be changed.

Researchers found young girls who lived in homes with stressed mothers tended to have high levels of a stress hormone as pre-schoolers, and were more likely to have higher levels of anxiety at age 18.

Brain scans of the girls showed alterations in the area of the brain responsible for emotional regulation.

The effect was not found in boys.
