Lock down on Butler campus lifted

INDIANAPOLIS -

Butler University Police and IMPD began an investigation of an armed robbery that occurred at the CVS, 119 W. 56th St. at 11:32 a.m.

Two suspects fled the store with a bag of drugs and headed toward campus in a black Mustang. One of the suspects jumped out of the car and was apprehended by BUPD officer Loran Wilber. Police searched for the second suspect but have not caught him.

The campus is open but students, faculty, staff, and visitors should remain cautious.

A tweet from the Butler Police Department says the lockdown for the campus has been lifted, "Campus lockdown is lifted. Card Access only for the next few mins. BUPD officers will be out on patrol."

The Butler University campus has been placed on lock down while officers from IMPD and Butler University police department search for suspects in a drug store robbery Sunday morning.

IMPD was called to the CVS pharmacy at the 100 block of West 56th Street for the report of robbery. 

Suspects were seen leaving the pharmacy toward the Butler campus. 

IMPD officers and Butler Police officers are searching the area and the campus for suspects.  According to Butler Police at least one suspect may be in custody.

According to tweets put out by the Butler Police Department, "City Police are searching canal area and Campus Police are going bldg to bldg. Stay Alert - stay safe. Butler Students and Staff - please get inside until we resolve this issue. City and University Police are still searching area.Updated description - suspect - white male, apx 6 ft, 200 pds. Last seen wearing "burgandy" shirt and blue jeans. K9 out searching."
