INDIANAPOLIS -

Three men were taken to Wishard Hospital Saturday with non-life threatening but serious injuries after the mini van they were riding in was struck by a westbound train.

Police were dispatched to a railroad crossing near the intersection of Lynhurst Drive and Bertha Street just after 10:15 a.m. Saturday morning on the report of a vehicle struck by a train.

Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found a mini-van with three occupants had been struck by a train.  The three men were transported to Wishard Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

One passenger who was in the rear of the van was pinned and had to be removed by Wayne Township fire fighters.

Police have confirmed that the railroad crossing lights and cross gates appear to be working and were activated at the time of the collision.  Police say they believe the driver drove around the crossing gates.
