Indiana bars get an extra hour to serve alcohol

INDIANAPOLIS -

The Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission announced Friday that alcoholic beverage sales may continue until 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012.

Because daylight-saving time changes clocks to 1:00 a.m. at 2:00 a.m. on Nov. 4, alcoholic-beverage outlets will have one additional hour during which they may serve or sell alcoholic beverages on this date. Pursuant to Indiana law, they must still cease sales at 3:00 a.m.

Daylight-saving time is currently practiced in 76 countries and affects more than 1.6 billion people worldwide.
