Campsite death in eastern Indiana ruled accidental

Posted: Updated:
RICHMOND -

Authorities in eastern Indiana say they've determined that the burning death of a homeless man at a campsite was accidental.

Richmond police identified the victim Thursday as 41-year-old David Lee Lasley after using dental records and fingerprints in the investigation that started when his severely burned body was found Monday near a small campfire.

Police Lt. Jon Bales tells the Palladium-Item an autopsy found no trauma or signs of anything criminal.

Lasley's body was found in a wooded area between a neighborhood, train tracks and the city's recycling center and other businesses. Police say it appears the site was frequented by homeless people and that alcohol drinking had gone on there.
