SHELBYVILLE -

A dump truck driver who didn't realize his bed was up took out several power lines on State Road 9 in Shelbyville Wednesday morning, causing about 1,700 power outages.

The downed poles are on State Road 9 in downtown Shelbyville. Most of downtown was left without power.

Duke Energy says several poles and transformers were knocked down. Duke is rerouting power in an effort to temporarily restore power, but the repairs could take several hours.
