Woman dies after she was shot in west Indianapolis street

INDIANAPOLIS -

A woman was found shot on a west Indianapolis street late Tuesday night and died at IU Health-Methodist Hospital.

Police say the woman, who is in her 20s, was found laying in the street in the 600 block of Eugene Street, between W. 29th Street and W. 30th Street just before 11 p.m. Tuesday. The woman had been shot one time.

The woman was transported to the hospital, where she later died of her injuries. Residents who spoke with police say they did not recognize the woman and officers say she did not live in the area.

There is no known suspect at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
