INDIANAPOLIS -

IndyCar officials are denying a published report that they have fired their CEO.

The Indianapolis Business Journal reported Friday afternoon that IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard has been fired. The journal cites unnamed sources in saying that IndyCar team owners fired Bernard Thursday, but that series officials were hoping to keep the news in-house for two weeks.

IndyCar officials tell Eyewitness News Bernard's employment status with the series has not changed.

Bernard took over as IndyCar CEO from Tony George in 2010.
