Judge refuses to dismiss Muncie dog fighting case

Posted: Updated:
MUNCIE -

A judge has refused to dismiss criminal charges against a Muncie man over what authorities say was an operation to train pit bulls for dog fights.

The attorney for 37-year-old Rahsaan Johnson argued this week that the defense was hampered by the euthanization of 11 dogs that were seized in March and the adopting out of the other dogs before a defense expert could evaluate them.

The Star Press reports a Delaware County judge ruled Thursday that prosecutors will have to prove charges against Johnson regarding each dog during next week's trail.

Johnson faces animal fighting and animal cruelty charges stemming from the raid in which authorities removed 25 pit bulls from a squalid mobile home.
