McDonald's to sell ground coffee in Canada

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

McDonald's will start selling packages of ground coffee at its restaurants in Canada next month.

A spokeswoman for McDonald's Canada says the ground coffee will be available in the majority of its 1,400 stores by Nov. 8. The packages will weigh about 12 ounces and cost about 7 dollars.

McDonald's is the world's biggest hamburger chain with about 33,000 locations around the globe. The announcement comes after the chain filed trademarks for "McCafe" ground and whole bean coffee in the U.S. last month.

There was no immediate word whether there are plans to sell ground coffee in the U.S.
