NOBLE COUNTY -

Observant neighbors who called police Thursday night led to the arrest of a 50-year-old man for breaking and entering in Noble County.

According to Indiana Trooper Justin Snyder, the Noble County Sheriff's Department dispatched a breaking and entering in progress in the 600 block of South Wildwood Drive at Knapp Lake around 8:30 Thursday night.

When Troopers arrived and surrounded the house, Stephen R. Lawrence of Elwood was seen inside and arrested at approximately 9:45 p.m.

Fort Wayne residents own the house, and they were not living there at the time. Lawrence had been seen in the area riding a bicycle over the past few days.

Lawrence was jailed in Noble County under the preliminary charges of Residential Entry, a Class D Felony, and Criminal Trespass, a Class A Misdemeanor.
