EB I-70 lanes to close early Thursday at Harding Street

INDIANAPOLIS -

The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to close all lanes of eastbound Interstate 70 at the Harding Street interchange on the city's near west side at 1:00 am Thursday to remove a large overhead box truss with several green panel signs attached.

Drivers will be rerouted via I-465 and locally via Harding Street, Morris Street and Missouri Street, then back to eastbound I-70.

Removal of the 40-foot truss and the vertical supports attached to a median wall at the 78.8 mile marker was necessitated when a semi truck collided with the wall Saturday. The concrete wall and a support bracket were damaged.

INDOT Indianapolis Subdistrict maintenance crews will use a large crane to lower the truss and its signs. Operations should be complete prior to Thursday morning's "rush hour" traffic. INDOT anticipates reopening the eastbound I-70 lane before 5 a.m.
