An auction of western Indiana historic site Billie Creek Village generated a combined $550,000 in bids.

Owner Charlie Cooper tells The Terre Haute Tribune-Star he has three days to decide whether to accept any of Saturday's final bids after they fell far short of the opening prices for each of the three lots at the Parke County site 60 miles west of Indianapolis.

A parcel containing nearly 42 acres and a covered bridge and a barn and a farmhouse drew the highest bid of $280,000 after bidding began at $500,000. A second parcel with a second covered bridge and the main Civil War-era village attracted a final bid of $250,000 after opening at $700,000. A third parcel drew a final bid of $20,000.

The bidders remained anonymous
