Matt Lancaster threw three touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, including one to Brendan Shannon with 1:22 remaining, and Butler rallied to beat Morehead State 39-35 Saturday night.
Morehead State took a 35-17 lead on Kevin Thomas' second short TD run of the game with 13:09 to play. But Lancaster rallied the Bulldogs (6-2, 5-0 Pioneer League) behind a pair of TDs to Shannon and one to Derek O'Connor. Lancaster, who finished 31 of 53 for 296 yards, also threw for a 2-point conversion.
Lancaster also ran for 101 yards and a touchdown. Shannon had 14 receptions for 170 yards and three TDs, and Trae Heeter had 100 yards rushing for Butler.
After Butler took a 10-0 lead, the Eagles (1-6, 0-4) reeled off three TDs in second quarter, two on short runs and the third on Zach Lewis' 12-yard pass to Cyrus Strahm. Morehead State led 21-17 at halftime.
