Congress launches inauguration website

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

Congress has launched a website to provide facts on past presidential inaugurations and information on the next one, which will take place outside the Capitol on Jan. 21.

The bipartisan Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies says it has also started the first-ever page on Facebook to provide timely material on the upcoming ceremony as well as the history of prior inaugurations.

Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., says the website will offer an encyclopedic resource to inauguration watchers worldwide. It will include audio, video and more than 100 new photos of past inaugurations.

The newly elected president is sworn in on the west side of the Capitol overlooking the Mall and the Washington Monument. This will be the 57th presidential inauguration.

The website is http://www.inaugural.senate.gov . The Facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/JCCIC.
