Retail group expects tiny increase in consumer holiday spending

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

How much do you expect to spend this holiday season? The nation's largest retail trade group looks for consumer spending to jump by less than $10.

The National Retail Federation expects shoppers to spend $749.51 in November and December. That's up just a little from the $740.57 they spent last year.

This year's expected level would be the highest since 2007, when shoppers spent on average $755.13.
