INDIANAPOLIS -

A Carmel resident was critically injured in a crash on the north side of Indianapolis Wednesday.

Officers responding to the two-vehicle crash in the 4200 block of College Avenue found the 32-year-old unconscious and not breathing inside one of the vehicles. That victim was taken to Wishard Hospital in critical condition.

Investigators say the victim was driving a black Audi north on College Avenue at a high rate of speed. The vehicle began to hydroplane on the wet road surface and slid into the southbound lanes of College Avenue, where it was struck by a southbound pick-up truck driven by 61-year-old David Stansberry of Indianapolis.

Two passengers in the pick-up truck were taken to IU Methodist Hospital. One of the passengers, 46-year-old Karen Huggins of Indianapolis, was transported in serious condition with head trauma. The other passenger, 55-year-old Donald Stansberry of Indianapolis, suffered injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

David Stansberry was not injured in the crash.
