Save money on Halloween costumes

Posted: Updated:

Halloween costumes can get pretty expensive, but a little research and creativity can help you save a lot of money on your trick-or-treater's get-up.

Think about borrowing costumes from family and friends with kids a year or two older than your own. You can also get good deals on pre-owned costumes on eBay or Craig'slist.

The internet is always a great resource for money saving ideas, especially on how to make your own costumes.

The social networking site Pinterest has all kids of boards on DIY costumes. Look for "make your own Halloween costume" to get some ideas, or click here.

Another great option for the thrifty trick-or-treater is Goodwill. Right now, Goodwill is having a contest. Post pictures of the costumes you've bought at Goodwill on their website and you could win prizes.
