Terre Haute group keeps trying to chase out crows

Posted: Updated:
TERRE HAUTE -

Volunteers are renewing efforts to chase away the large flocks of crows that have plagued Terre Haute for years.

The Terre Haute Crow Patrol held its first program of the year Monday evening to train volunteers on using launchers that propel noisemakers into the air in hopes of chasing off the birds.

First-time volunteer Chris Koszewski tells the Tribune-Star that crow droppings around the city are terrible and that he's irritated by having to walk through piles of droppings at many places.

This is the third year the crow patrol has held the training programs for volunteers since thousands of crows have been roosting in the city's downtown and elsewhere. It also uses propane cannons and lasers to move the birds.
