Whitney Houston: Jennifer Hudson opens TV salute

LOS ANGELES -

Jennifer Hudson opens the upcoming "We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston" with a medley of Houston songs and wearing big hair like one of Houston's 80s videos.

The show, which was taped on Thursday, also shows rare footage of Houston's TV debut on "The Merv Griffin Show."

Her mother can be seen behind the curtain frantically directing the band to pick up the tempo.

The tribute also features Usher, CeCe Winans and Yolanda Adams.
