Following the opening of Heirloom Restaurant, a new vegetarian eatery in Vancouver, Massage School San Diego has distributed a tip guide, noting common mistakes to avoid when starting a vegetarian diet.
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) October 12, 2012
As of this week, Vancouver, British Columbia, is now home to a new vegetarian eatery called Heirloom Restaurant as reported by Straight. In conjunction with the restaurant’s opening, Massage School San Diego has created a tip guide that notes common mistakes and pitfalls to avoid when beginning a vegetarian diet. MSSD, which helps potential students locate the best San Diego massage therapy school for them is also a supporter of raw, organic and vegan foods.
Heirloom Restaurant opened Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 1509 W. 12th Avenue in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. It is the largest vegetarian restaurant in the city. Heirloom serves brunch, lunch and dinner, as well as cocktails, organic wine and more. It also offers vegan options. Heirloom’s executive chef, Georgia Morley, is a holistic nutrition consultant who has experience as a private chef. Heirloom is the second all-vegetarian restaurant to open in Vancouver this year; Acorn Restaurant and Bar opened in the summer.
Following the opening of Heirloom, Massage School San Diego has distributed a tip guide, detailing common mistakes to avoid when starting off as a vegetarian. Common mistakes include:
1. Not replacing meat with another source of protein. When removing meat from your diet, substitute quinoa, tofu, beans or some other protein form.
2. Assuming just because it’s vegetarian, it’s healthy. Potato chips may be made of all vegetables – but it doesn’t mean they’re good for you!
3. Using fake meats too often. While these can provide a replacement for when you get a craving, they shouldn’t be one of your sole sources of food.
4. Not taking the right vitamins and supplements. Vegetarian diets tend to lack iron, zinc, B-12 and more. Ensure you’re healthy by taking supplements for these essential nutrients.

The Acorn Restaurant and Bar is a vegetarian restaurant in Vancouver. Its menu offers vegan, raw and gluten-free options, as well as vegetarian food. It is located at 3995 Main St.
