BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -

The makers of a popular breakfast cereal are issuing a food safety alert over possible metal fragments in some of the packages.

Kellogg's is voluntarily recalling three million boxes of Bite Size Frosted Mini-Wheats and Bite Size Unfrosted Mini-Wheats. Boxes with the metal fragments have the letters KB, AP or FK before or after the "Best If Used Before" date on the package.

People who have the affected cereal, or are unsure if they do, can contact Kellogg's with questions at 1-800-962-1413.
