There will soon be a new option for cancer patients in Indiana. Community Health Network is opening a new cancer center in southern Indianapolis.

The new Community Regional Cancer Center-South will be on the grounds of Community Hospital South. They just broke ground on the $24 million facility. It will provide outpatient cancer care including the addition of radiation.

"This will be a huge addition for us and a great benefit for our patients and their families because people will no longer have to drive. They will be able to get their care really close to home," said Tony Lennen, president of Community South.

The three-story facility will include treatment rooms, doctor's offices, a pharmacy, a lab, and a healing garden. It's set to open in about a year.
