A jury has convicted a South Bend woman of three counts of neglect for ignoring the abuse of three grandchildren, including one who died.
The South Bend Tribune and WSBT-TV report the jury deliberated about 90 minutes Wednesday before returning the verdicts against 53-year-old Dellia Castile.
She was charged with ignoring abuse that included the November 2011 death of 10-year-old Tramelle Sturgis. The boy's father was convicted in his death.
Castile collapsed in the courtroom Wednesday morning and was treated by medical personnel. Jurors were not in the courtroom at the time. She later returned to the courtroom.
Castile is due to be sentenced Nov. 8. She faces 20 to 50 years on one of the neglect counts and six to 20 years on each of the other two counts.
