DE Tuitt hopes to rewrite Irish record books

Posted: Updated:
SOUTH BEND -

Defensive end Stephon Tuitt is having fun playing on what has been one of best Notre Dame defenses in recent memory.

The seventh-ranked Irish (5-0) have given up just three touchdowns, the fewest in the nation, and haven't given up a TD in three games - the longest such stretch by an Irish defense since 1980. Tuitt has been a key contributor, with six of Notre Dame's 20 sacks.

Tuitt is almost halfway to the school record of 13.5 sacks set in 2003 by Justin Tuck, now with the New York Giants.

Notre Dame hosts No. 17 Stanford (4-1) this Saturday.
