Candidates for governor set to debate tonight - 13 WTHR Indianapolis

Election day is less than a month away, and tonight is your first opportunity to see Indiana's candidates for governor tackle the issues in a live debate.

Pundits say this is really Republican Mike Pence's debate to lose. In other words, he is considered the front runner, has the most campaign money and is expected the sweep the state in November.

But this will be the first time we hear from Pence, his Democratic challenger John Gregg, and from the former reality TV star Rupert Boneham, who is running on the Libertarian ticket, all in one place at one time.

Pence and Gregg have been running a barrage of TV ads. Boneham has no ads.  He's focused--according to his website, on jobs, spending, education and civil rights, But the quirky, eclectic former winner of the Survivor reality show is bound to add some spice to what would normally be a typical discussion among politicians.  

The debate is being held at the Performing Arts Center at Zionsville High School. It begins at 7:00 p.m. on WTHR-Channel 13.

All 1200 tickets to that event have been distributed by the Indiana Debate Commission.

This is the first of three gubernatorial debates. The other two are in South Bend and Fort Wayne.
