Democrat Joe Donnelly is spending another $300,000 in campaign ads as Republican Richard Mourdock spends $315,000 on a new ad that he hopes will cut through the on-air clutter in Indiana's tight Senate race.
The Mourdock ad features footage of synchronized swimmers performing as the announcer argues that Donnelly is "synchronized" with President Barack Obama. The new Donnelly spot continues criticizing Mourdock for saying "the highlight of politics, frankly, is to inflict my opinion on someone else."
Both ads are running for a week statewide on broadcast and cable starting Monday. A Republican tracking ad buys confirmed the new buy on condition of anonymity because the campaign does not openly discuss ad purchases. A Democrat tracking ad buys for the Donnelly campaign confirmed the Democratic spot on the same condition.
