In another blow to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra musicians currently locked out in a contract dispute, somebody stole their mascot.
The mascot is the top of a bass which has been signed by supporters. Since the lockout, ISO musicians have been performing at lunchtime on Monument Circle outside the Hilbert Circle Theatre. Every day, they've brought the mascot with them.
Someone broke into the car of the musician who was looking after the mascot and stole it. Now the musicians, who are calling the theft a symbolic blow, are hoping the thief will return it.
ISO musicians have filed for unemployment as they continue to negotiate a new contract. They've been locked out and without health insurance since Sept. 10th, and several concerts have been canceled.
On Sunday, some of the musicians will present an independently produced concert at Carmel's Palladium.
