Indiana undecided on QB for Michigan State game

Posted: Updated:
BLOOMINGTON -

Indiana coach Kevin Wilson hasn't decided whether Cameron Coffman or Nate Sudfeld will start at quarterback Saturday against Michigan State.

Wilson said it will come down to the way they practice this week. He said neither stood out in Saturday's 44-29 loss to Northwestern.

Coffman started and completed 13 of 23 passes for 109 yards against Northwestern, but the Hoosiers trailed 20-0 at halftime and Coffman was benched. Sudfeld completed 9 of 16 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown in relief, but he faltered late.

If Sudfeld starts, he would be the fifth starting quarterback for the team in 16 games under Wilson and the third starter this year. Tre Roberson, the original starter this season, is out for the season with a broken leg.
