Snoop Dogg/Snoop Lion: getting paid to be played

Posted: Updated:
LOS ANGELES -

Will the checks be made out to Snoop Dogg or Snoop Lion? Either way, the rapper is getting paid for the music he will have on an online streaming service.

Rdio says starting today, it will start paying musicians $10 for every person they persuade through social medial to sign up for one of its plans. The move is designed to get more people involved in the streaming services game.

They have gained in popularity - but some artists like Adele have held back from letting their music be played because they feel they're being underpaid.

For about $10, such services let users stream an unlimited number of songs on their mobile devices. Users can select from millions of tracks, including those off the latest albums.
