City Way opens today downtown - 13 WTHR Indianapolis

It's being called a downtown "game-changer."  This morning, City Way opens as a new, mixed retail residential space, right across the street from Bankers Life Fieldhouse. 

It's a one-of-a-kind development downtown. 

It's an incredible view from one of the 250 apartments ready to rent.  The first 100 are already leased. They run from $900/month for a studio all the way up to $3500.  They are designed and targeted for young professionals who work downtown and will be able to walk to just about everything.

Just over a year ago, the apartments were a parking lot on the corner of Delaware and South Streets. Now, it's a 14 acre development.  In addition to the apartments, there will be a 75,000 square foot YMCA, a number of retail shops and restaurants and a 200 room boutique hotel set to open at the beginning of next year.

"From the downtown environment, this fills in a void that has broken the city's continuity," said Scott Travis of Buckingham Development. "And in addition to that, it offers great services that don't exist here today - new restaurants and new vibrant space."

And, there's that view that makes you feel that you can just reach off your balcony and grab downtown.

And that's the point. City Way is a five minute walk from all kinds of amenities, not to mention several major employers including Eli Lilly, which was instrumental in the project and its neighbor to the south.
