Indiana county official indicted on battery charges

Posted: Updated:
HUNTINGTON -

A county commissioner from northeast Indiana has been indicted on charges of battery against two women who worked at his private business.

A special prosecutor declined to discuss details of the seven misdemeanor counts against Huntington County Commissioner Tom Wall, whom was indicted by a grand jury Friday. D.J. Sigler did tell The Journal Gazette of Fort Wayne that Indiana law defines battery as "touching in a rude, insolent or angry manner."

Fifty-nine-year-old Wall was released on bond from the Huntington County Jail after turning himself in.

Wall's business sells trailers, mobile homes and snowplows and owns mobile home parks.

A man who answered the phone Saturday at Wall's business said Wall didn't wish to comment.

Sigler says Wall still could serve as commissioner if he is convicted.
