Items from century-old Sylvan Springs resort up for sale

ROME CITY -

The contents of a century-old former health and spiritual resort in northern Indiana are up for sale even as the property's owner tries to find a way to revive it.

The former owner of Sylvan Springs near the Noble County community of Rome City says bedroom furniture, kitchen equipment and chapel items are listed for sale on Craigslist because of pressure to settle the bankruptcy of his company.

Mike Westrick of Fort Wayne bought the Sylvan Springs buildings two years ago after Larry Young's company filed for bankruptcy. Westrick tells The News Sun of Kendallville that he worries Young is trying sell items that should stay with the buildings.

A nonprofit group has proposed buying and renovating the resort about 30 miles north of Fort Wayne to reopen it.
