NHL lockout: Labor talks resume after 2-week break

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

With the clock ticking down to the start of the season, the NHL and its locked-out players are talking again.

The sides have resumed negotiations at league headquarters Friday. These are the first talks since the lockout was put in place and they come a day after the league canceled the remaining preseason games. The regular season is to start Oct. 11.

The league and the union are to discuss secondary issues and not the core of the dispute - how to split more than $3 billion in annual revenue.

The sides are expected to break after the morning negotiations before bargaining again in the late afternoon. The negotiations are expected to last through the weekend.
