County seeks removal of absent auditor

Posted: Updated:
BROOKVILLE -

The Franklin County commissioners want the southeastern Indiana county's auditor to resign because she's never around.

The Connersville News-Examiner quoted County Commission President Tom Wilson Wednesday as saying Auditor Erica Hudson began appearing infrequently at her office over the summer and has become almost unreachable by phone. He says she hasn't been in her office in Brookville in more than a month.

Wilson says unopened mail in her office included a notice from the Internal Revenue Service about a tax problem and resulted in a $4,000 fine against the county.

Wilson says commissioners approved a motion this week seeking to recover the $4,000 from Hudson and saying Hudson's recent behavior constitutes neglect of her office.
