A northwestern Indiana man has admitted in a federal plea agreement that he made more than $8,000 in counterfeit money.
Jerome Jerry Scott faces up to 20 years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines after signing a federal plea agreement Monday in which he states that he was producing counterfeit 20-, 50- and 100-dollar bills.
The Times of Munster reports the 23-year-old East Chicago man was arrested in June 2011 after police called to a home for a disturbance found that he was wanted on an active warrant.
Court documents say police found more than $5,000 in counterfeit money in Scott's pocket when they took him into custody. Another $3,000 in fake money was found in the home the following day.
