Police are investigating a death on the grounds of the Indiana Women's Prison on Girls School Road.
According to police, Major Kenneth Wiltsie, 55, took his own life with a single gunshot to the chest. Officers determined that Wiltsie used his issued semi-automatic pistol.
It happened at around 1:37 pm in a public access area outside the prison building but on prison ground property. No inmates or other staff was involved and the prison grounds are secure.
Wiltsie was a ten-year veteran with the Indiana Department of Correction. His family has been notified.
