Robin Roberts: GMA co-host seeking a release

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

So far, so good for Robin Roberts. The co-host of "Good Morning America" is already bucking to get out of the hospital after having a bone marrow transplant.

Her oncologist says Roberts has emailed her, asking that she be released. On the show this past Friday, ABC aired footage of Roberts in her hospital bed, receiving the bone marrow from her sister to treat MDS, a blood and bone marrow disease.

For now, Roberts is being monitored to guard against infection - and to make sure her white blood cell count is increasing. Her doctor says Roberts can expect some good and bad days as she recovers.

There's no timetable for her return to the ABC morning show.
