School Board Vice President asked to resign

Posted: Updated:
SOUTH BEND -

The vice president of South Bend's school board has been asked to resign his position after he questioned the legality of a closed-door meeting.

The board's president and secretary held a news conference Friday to ask Bill Sniadecki to step down. The South Bend Tribune reports they also asked for a public apology and warned that Sniadecki might be censured by the board.

Sniadecki told the Tribune he thinks a discussion at a closed board meeting this week may have gone beyond the scope allowed by Indiana's public access law.

Indiana Public Access Counselor Joe Hoage says he also questions whether the meeting met legal requirements.
