INDIANAPOLIS -

Storms brought heavy rain, hail and flash flooding to Indiana Friday night.

On the east side, a tree came crashing down at a home in the 1900 block of North Spencer ave. on the city's east side. The homeowner was gone, but his son was home.

Michael Davis was sleeping on the couch when the storm woke him up.

"I thought it was a tornado. I ran downstairs. I mean, it was just so loud. I was afraid to open the door and look outside. I opened the door and saw it was a tree. It felt like an earthquake. It just shook the house," he said.

Utility crews had their hands full trying to fix power outages Saturday. Thousands of homes and businesses lost electricity at the peak of Friday night's storms.

At last check, Duke Energy had restored power to all but 100 customers. IPL still has 300 with power down from over 1,500 earlier this afternoon.

Quarter-size hail hit homes in Marion, Hancock and Hendricks Counties. The hail was even bigger in some other neighborhoods.
