US futures head to positive territory for the week

NEW YORK -

U.S. stock futures are rebounding after several volatile days trading and appear headed into positive territory for the week.

Dow Jones industrial futures are up 49 points to 13,564. The broader S&P futures have added 4.7 points to 1,458.50. Nasdaq futures are up 9 points to 2,862.25.

The leaders of two economically troubled European nations vowed to do all that is necessary to preserve the 17-nation monetary union.

Italy's Premier Mario Monti met Friday with Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras on the sidelines of a political conference in Rome. The two leaders reiterated their conviction of "the absolute need to safeguard the integrity of the eurozone."

Darden Restaurants, owner of the Olive Garden and Red Lobster chains, is posting a 4 percent profit increase for its fiscal first quarter.
