INDIANAPOLIS -

One of the city's most modern residential and commercial projects is taking shape near Bankers Life Fieldhouse and Eli Lilly.

CityWay is an $155 million, 600,000-square-foot project is designed to create an urban neighborhood in the southeast section of downtown Indianapolis.

Scott Travis, Buckingham Corp., says the mixed use development will be a place to live, work and play.

"I think when we started the planning process, even four years ago, the vision for what this could be as a new neighborhood that could connect four of our most important corporate campuses to downtown, also Fletcher Place and Fountain Square. There's been a void here for 130 years," said Travis.

"It's been basically a parking lot for train cars and automobiles for 120 of those years," he said, calling the ten-acre parcel of downtown Indianapolis one of the most "under-utilized."

Travis says two things set the project apart.

"We strove from the beginning to create a new neighborhood," he said. Travis also pointed out it's also the first time a mixed-use development in the city had more than two uses - there's a hotel, residential, a new YMCA and retail.
