South Bend toddler dies weeks after fall into pool

Posted: Updated:
SOUTH BEND -

A northern Indiana toddler has died weeks after she nearly drowned in the swimming pool at a home daycare center.

Twenty-three-month-old Skyler Bullocks of South Bend died Saturday at a Mishawaka hospice. She had fallen into a pool Aug. 2 at a home daycare center in Osceola.

WSBT-TV reports that an adult pulled Bullocks out of the pool and began administering CPR after a 4-year-old child spotted the girl in the pool and tried unsuccessfully to pull her out.

The Department of Child Services and police found about 10 children in the unlicensed day care center at the time of the incident.

Under Indiana law, a home daycare must be licensed if it has more than five children who are not related each other.
