Northeastern Indiana sheriff seeks help solving Amish attacks

BERNE -

A northeastern Indiana sheriff wants the public's help in solving attacks on members of an Amish community by masked suspects.

Adams County Sheriff Shane Rekeweg says several, separate attacks occurred Monday near Berne, about 30 miles south of Fort Wayne.

His news release Tuesday doesn't indicate how many people were attacked and what kind of injuries, if any, they might have sustained. It also did not indicate the number of attacks or attackers.

It says the suspects were last seen in a light gray or light green wagon like a Chevy HHR or Chrysler PT Cruiser. It said the vehicle had damage to the driver-side rear door and the passenger-side right rear quarter. People with information were asked to call 260-724-5345.

A message seeking additional information was left for Rekeweg.
