INDIANAPOLIS -
Students at an Indianapolis Public Schools elementary school will be getting a safe place to play Tuesday. Right now, the kids at IPS 105 don't have much of a playground. So some Colts players are using their day off to help fix that.
The transformation will take place in about a day. Construction begins at 6:30 this morning and should finish before 3:00 p.m.
Two dozen Colts players are joining 200 other volunteers to build a new, safe playground at the school, and beautify the grounds with new landscaping.
Among the Colts scheduled to help are tight end Dwayne Allen and linebacker Jerry Hughes. "We have a great mix of some of our new guys - some of our rookies, and some of our veterans," said the Colts Stephanie Pemberton.
The new playground will be complete with slides and climbing walls, in a Colts blue and white color scheme. The 43,000 square foot playground should offer the 400-some students at IPS 105 plenty of room for recess.
"Hopefully, it will be something they'll be able to use for many years to come," said Pemberton.
This is the fifth consecutive year the Colts have worked with their partners to build a playground in Central Indiana.
