Avett Brothers deal with tough times

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE -

The Avett Brothers didn't know it at the time, but their lyrics were predicting their future emotions.

They had finished a lot of their new album, "The Carpenter," in August 2011. That's when the 2-year-old daughter of bassist Bob Crawford was diagnosed with brain cancer.

Crawford says music was his refuge during that time. Seth Avett says some of the lyrics he had written make more sense because of Crawford's situation.

Crawford's daughter is still sick but he feels comfortable enough to tour with the band this fall.
