LAPORTE -

Indiana actors are being sought for a film being planned about a LaPorte woman suspected of killing up to 40 people.

Project director Stephen Ruminski says he's lined up financing for the 20-minute production about Belle Gunness and will hold auditions Saturday for three lead characters.

Ruminski tells The LaPorte County Herald-Argus he hopes to use the short film to generate interest in a feature-length film.

He is looking for actors to portray Gunness, foster daughter Jennie Olsen and farmhand Emil Greening.

Gunness was a native of Norway native who moved to LaPorte in the early 1900s. She is believed to have used lonely hearts ads to lure wealthy men to her farm, where she took their possessions and killed them.

She is often known as Lady Bluebeard.
