Roger Penske says he'd consider hiring AJ Allmendinger again, and had the suspended NASCAR driver at the IndyCar season finale as his guest.
Allmendinger failed a NASCAR drug test in July and was released by Penske Racing when his backup "B'' sample also tested positive. He's currently participating in NASCAR's "Road to Recovery" program.
Penske says he felt Allmendinger had been too reclusive since his failed drug test, and encouraged him to come this weekend to Auto Club Speedway. He says once the driver is cleared to race again, he's a viable option for both owners in NASCAR and IndyCar.
Allmendinger spent three seasons in Champ Car, and won five races in 2006 before moving to NASCAR.
He ran 17 races in NASCAR for Penske before he was suspended.
